Hotel Bennett Charleston:

The Crown Jewel of Charleston

Charleston is a city we know, love and return to often, most recently for our traditional holiday bar crawl. Since we no longer live in Charleston, we chose to stay at Hotel Bennett this past holiday season, which has always been one of our favorite hotels in the city.

Back when we were locals, it was our go-to spot for a downtown overnight: valet the car, grab cocktails, and let the evening unfold from there.

Want to book your stay at Hotel Bennett, with all of our insider tips and perks? Reach out and we’ll share all of our preferred partner amenities.

During our holiday visit, we stayed overnight and were reminded exactly why we consider Hotel Bennett THE place to stay in Charleston.

Advisor Benefits That Make a Difference

When you book Hotel Bennett through us, you receive preferred partner amenities that elevate the entire experience, including:

  • Daily breakfast for two
  • Upgrade upon availability
  • Early check-in and late checkout
  • $100 resort credit per stay

One detail we love (and always look for on behalf of our clients): flexibility. For example, breakfast can be used for in-room dining or in the restaurant, rather than being limited to one outlet. Both of our rooms opted for in-room dining, which made for a relaxed and seamless start to the day.

Rooms, Views & Comfort

We booked two rooms, each with stunning but very different views. One overlooked Marion Square and King Street, the other had a beautiful view toward the bridge.

The rooms themselves are exceptional:

  • Abundant natural light
  • Oversized bathrooms (even in standard rooms)
  • Deep soaking tubs
  • Ridiculously, insanely comfortable beds (how do they do it!?)

Many downtown Charleston hotels are in repurposed historic buildings (which we love), but that often means smaller, inconsistent room sizes (The Dewberry is a good example). Hotel Bennett stands apart with consistently spacious, well-appointed rooms that feel luxurious without sacrificing warmth.

A Lively Hotel With Year-Round Appeal

Hotel Bennett is always vibrant, but during the holidays it truly shines. From the iconic gingerbread house to Tea with Santa and afternoon tea in the Champagne Bar, the hotel has a festive, celebratory energy that attracts locals and visitors alike.

They offer afternoon tea throughout the year, and it’s one of those experiences that feels both timeless and special. It’s the perfect way to pass the time, whether you’re visiting for a weekend or popping in while staying with family nearby.

Fiat Luxe: One of Charleston’s Best Rooftops

Even if you’re not staying at Hotel Bennett, their rooftop Fiat Luxe is worth a visit. It’s an indoor-outdoor rooftop space with an adjacent pool (another major differentiator, as many downtown Charleston hotels do not have pools at all).

Why we love Fiat Luxe:

  • Indoor-outdoor design with French doors usually open
  • Protected from wind while still offering sunset views
  • Large TV for weekend sports (rare for a rooftop with this level of polish)
  • Excellent cocktails and a limited but consistently strong food menu

Dalton, one of the bartenders, is more like a chemist with his thoughtful, off-menu cocktails that made the experience even more memorable.

Dining, Spa & On-Site Experiences

Hotel Bennett offers multiple dining and lifestyle options under one roof:

  • Champagne Bar – adorned with original pink marble from the historic law library
  • Lobby Bar – always buzzing with locals and guests
  • Gabrielle – the full-service restaurant for breakfast and dinner
  • Patisserie – serving coffee and French baked goods with direct King Street access
  • Full-service spa – personalized treatments to restore your inner balance
  • Custom hat-making shop – where guests can design their own hat

It’s a hotel where you can truly settle in without ever feeling confined.

Location & Seamless Getting Around

Central to Upper King and Lower King, the location is unbeatable, with easy access to shopping, dining, and nightlife. For destinations a little further away, like East Bay or the Market area, pedicabs and bike taxis are always waiting right outside. No calls needed, no planning required.

Even when we lived in Charleston, we relied on pedicabs regularly and loved the ease and convenience!

This level of service is exactly why we prioritize relationships within the industry. We’ve personally built a relationship with the General Manager, and we always reach out when our clients are arriving to ensure they receive extra care and attention. This is one of the biggest advantages of booking through a travel advisor who truly knows the destination and the people behind the scenes.

A Must-Stay in Charleston

Hotel Bennett is privately owned and managed by the Salamander Collection, and the care taken in its restoration is evident everywhere. From the architectural details and moldings to the historic pink marble woven throughout the design, every detail was considered, and it shows.

Once you visit, you’ll have to agree: Hotel Bennett is The Crown Jewel of Charleston.

Whether you’re planning a long weekend, a celebration, or simply want the best possible experience in the city, this is where we recommend staying (and why booking with an advisor matters). We look at amenities, layout, service, and logistics influencers often overlook, ensuring your stay is not just beautiful, but effortless.

If Charleston is on your list, we’d love to plan it the right way. Reach out here or contact one of the advisors here and we’ll book the perfect stay.

Relax, we’ll take care of everything,
